Membership of the national union

A
was largely liberal minded employers such as Samuel Morley - his participation was an affirmation of the positive effects of the further enfranchisement and empowerment of the working class 
The inclusion of the prominent employers gave the reform union  a significant degree of influence which the gov. Couldn’t ignore as the employers were necessary for the economy

Hyde park riot

A

Reform league held a meeting in Hyde park on the 23rd July 1866 to discuss future action and the meeting was declared illegal by the Home Secretary so hyde park was cordoned off - they were then confronted with police as they entered the park
