The Reflex Arc Flashcards
what structures does each neurone have
dendrite - cell body - nucleus - axon - myelin sheath - axon terminal
what direction do electrical signals travel across the neurone in
from the dendrite (side with the cell body) to the axon terminal
what order do electrical signals travel through the different neurones in
sensory neuron - relay neuron (brain and spinal cord) - motor neuron
what is the function of sensory neurons
carry nerve impulses from sensory receptors to the brain and spinal cord
what is the function of relay neurons
allow sensory and motor neurons to communicate
what is the function of motor neurons
responsible for muscle contraction, bring the electrical impulse to the effector
what is the location of sensory neurons
from the sensory receptors to the brain and spinal cord
what is the location of relay neurons
lie entirely within the brain and spinal cord
what is the location of motor neurons
from the brain and spinal cord to the effectors
remember - need to know what each neuron looks like
search it up
