Decision of ref
Ref may not change a decision once play has restarted
Powers and duties (3)
Acts as a timekeeper, keeps record of match and provides appropriate authorites with match report
Advantage
Allows play to continue when offence occurs, penalises original offence if advantage does not ensure at that time or within a few seconds
Disciplinary action (2)
If offender in technical area cannot be identifed - senior coach will recieve sanction. Medical team offender may remain if no other medics available
Injuries (5)
Allows play to continue if only slight injury 2) Stops play if player is seriously injured - ensures player is removed and treated outside field of play and only reenter after play has restarted 3) exceptions to leaving field of play - keeper injury, players from same team, severe injury, played injured as a result of a physical offence - pk taker is injured4)player bleeding must leave field of play until stopped bleeding 5) if injury not due to foul - play restarted with drop ball
Outside interference (3)
1) object thrown by spectator onto someone - ref continue/stop/suspend dependent on severity 2)spectator blows whistle interfering with play - play is stopped and restarted with dropped ball 3) extra ball/object/animal enters pitch - stop play and restart with a dropped ball only if inteferes with play - if ball is going in and doesnt prevent defending team - goal stands unless interference is attacking team
Liability of match officials (2)
1) not liable to any injury, damage, loss suffered 2) sorting out conditions of field, abandon match, suitability of equipment, spectator interference, injured players, allow individuals to be present
