The Rate And Extent Of Chemical Change Practical Flashcards
1
Q
Describe a method for the practical
A
- SUPPORT a GAS SYRINGE with a STAND, BOSS and CLAMP.
2.Using A MEASURING CYLINDER, ADD 50 cm3 of DILUTE HYDROCHLORIC ACID to a CONICAL FLASK
3.ADD 0.4 g of CALCIUM CARBONATE to the FLASK. IMMEDIATELY CONNECT the GAS SYRINGE and START a STOP CLOCK
- EVERY 10 seconds, RECORD the VOLUME of GAS SYRINGE.
- WHEN the REACTION is COMPLETE, CLEAN the APPARATUS
- REPEAT steps 1 to 5 with DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS of HYDROCHLORIC ACID
2
Q
How should you record the results?
A
In a TIME to VOLUME TABLE :
3
Q
How would you plot a graph for this reaction?
A
Volume in Cm^3 on Y AXIS
Time (s) on X AXIS
4
Q
What are two risks?
A
-Hydrochloric Acid
-Fizzing in the reaction mixture
5
Q
What are two cautions?
A
-Wear eye protection
-Use a large conical flask
