Q

What is the difference between the AIA and the board?

A

AIA – professional body that serves the interests of the architectural profession, and aims to promote architecture to the community.

Registration Board – protects the interests of the community by ensuring architects provide architectural services in a professional and competent manner. This is through the registration of architects and informs the public of the qualifications and competence required to practice as an architect, while
promoting architecture to the community.

ACL contains a number of implied guarantees benefiting the consumer, and in particular, a guarantee that goods or services provided are reasonably fit for the intended purpose.
However, the guarantee that services will be fit for a purpose does not apply to professional services provided by a qualified architect or engineer.
