Q

What was Daltons model?

A

His model of the atom was a single indestructible sphere he thought that all atoms in an element are the same. And the atoms in one element are different from the atoms in all other elements

Q

What is the plum pudding model and who created it?

A

The atom is thought of to consist of positive mass with negative electrons embedded in it. He did not know what the positive mass was made of or the structure of the atom

Q

What is the Rutherford model?

A

Rutherford suggested that an atom is made of a tiny, positively charged nucleus with electrons around the outside. Later scientists discovered that the nucleus was made of two sub atomic particles the proton and neutron

Q

What is the Bohr model?

A

Niels Bohr suggested that electrons can only move in fixed orbits or shells around the nucleus. He realised the electrons would spiral in until they hit the nucleus of these shells were not present

Q

What is the gold foil experiment?

A

Alpha particles (positively charged) were fired at a piece of gold foil. Some of them went straight through others were slightly deflected and some came straight back leading to the discovery of the positively charged nucleus
