A

1) Perestroika - Reconstruction. 1985. Make economy more efficient. Investment was encouraged. People could start co-operatives
2) Glasnost - Openess. 1986. Free and open debate about Russia’s problems. Media allowed to criticise government. Results in attacks and demands for freedom
3) Democratisation. 1988. Political parties allowed to form. Free elections for “new” parliament. Results in open criticism of communism and Gorbachevs ideals.
4) Detente. Reduce CW Tensions. Negotiates nuclear weapons reduction. Eases China tensions
