A

The income that the monarch received each year it was not dependent on parliament grants unlike extraordinary revenue or taxes which were granted in times of emergency ?

What happened to customs revenue in 1604 ?

A

Direct collection was farmed our to a syndicate of merchants, in exchange for annual rent customs farmers were able to collect and keep customs revenues. Which meant that the king received regular income and the farmer had considerable benifits.

A

Doubts on both side the commons could not be certain that the king would not accept their grant and continue to pocket feudal revenues. Plus many MPs disliked the idea of funding the kings extravagance.

What was cockneys scheme ?

A

William cockayne convinces the mind to prohibit the export of unfinished cloth so that Englishmen could finish the cloth therefore increasing employment and increasing customs revenue. However the Dutch took offence to this , and the English did not have the resources to purchase all the cloth so unemployment soured.
