What are the reasons for the New deal not being a success? (9 reasons)

A
  • Recovery was slow
  • By the end of the 1930’s unemployment remained higher than it was in 1929
  • Real recovery came after the second world war in 1941
  • Many jobs provided were temporary and relied on federal funding
  • Many small farmers weren’t entitled to farming benefits
  • Lots of Americans were excluded from provisions made under the new deal
  • Still Maldistribution of wealth
  • Little achieved in regards to civil rights
  • Many thought it was a betrayal of US values, communist sympathies
