Q

what happens when you tough a hot object?

A
  1. the stimulus (heat) is detected by a receptor (skin)
  2. electrical impulses pass from the receptor to the CNS along a sensory neuron
  3. a chemical is released at the synapse and diffuses across to a relay neuron in the CNS
  4. this triggers an electrical impulse which gets passed across the relay neurons to another synapse
  5. another chemical is released triggering an electrical impulse in a motor neuron
  6. this passes to the effector which initiates a response
