Describe beliefs about God

A

God is: Omnipotent(All powerful)
Omnipresent(Everywhere)
Omniscient(All-Knowing)
Omnibenevolent(All knowing)
Transcendent(Outside this world)
They also believe God is timeless and eternal.
God is the creator and giver of all life:
“In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth”
Humankind is made in a special way in the image of God “Then God said, Let us make mankind in our image”

A

Christians believe God is all-loving “But you, Lord are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness”. Psalm 86:15

Why is there evil and suffering?

A

Some people ask: If god is all loving and powerful why is there evil/suffering
These are the reasons:
- God has given each person free will and people must make their own choices. Some choices cause evil and suffering
-God shares in our suffering
-Suffering is a test/ Result of sin
-How we respond to suffering can make us a better person(soul-shaping)

The Trinity

A

The trinity is the belief God is made up of 3 parts(like a clover): God the father, son and holy spirit
God the Father- Christians believe This shows caring person relationship between humans and god.
God the son- Through becoming human as Jesus, God revealed something of himself to the world
Holy spirit- Guides christians to live their lives in best way possible and gives comfort/Inspiration and guidance
“I and the father are one”
