Incarnation

A

Incarnation- God becoming human in the form of Jesus
Evidence for Jesus’ divine self
-Miracle of Virgin birth
-Voice of God was heard at baptism of Jesus
-Jesus’ ability to perform miracles
-The transfiguration and ressurection
“You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus”- Shows Jesus is human and can feel fear and pain

The Crucifixion

A

-Jesus is executed by Romans
-Soldiers mock Jesus and put crown of thorns on him
- Crucified at a place called Golgotha
-2 other criminals are crucified with him
-Jesus prays while on the cross and dies
“My God My god why have you forsaken me?”

Ressurection

A

Resurection- The belief that Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday, conquering death.
-Christians believe this is the greatest miracle and is evidence Jesus was God
“I am the resurrection and the life”
-On Sunday following Jesus’ crucifixion some of Jesus’ followers went to his tomb.
-They found stone covering mouth of tomb had been rolled inside and jesus wasnt there

Ascension

A

“Then they worshipped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy”

  • Jesus blessed his followers before ascending to heaven.
  • Ascension is when Jesus physically or symbolically rose to heaven.
  • Ascension marks an end to the presence of Jesus on earth as a physical way but includes an acceptance of Jesus’ spirit.

A

Jesus crucifixion purged the original sin and healed the rift between god and humans.

Salvation

A

Means human soul can escape eternal punishment and enter heaven.
In order for this salvation to happen, God set a process in motion:

God gave his only son, Jesus, so that all humans could be saved.
Jesus was a perfect human - he had no sin.
God placed the sins of the world upon him at his crucifixion.
