The Mole Concept. Flashcards
What is the Avogadro number or the Avogadro constant?
The number of atoms, ions or molecules is called the Avogadro number or the Avogadro constant.
What is a mole?
A mole is the amount of substance that contains 6 x 10²³ atoms, ions, or molecules.
What are the three ways you can calculate the number of moles?
Number of moles = mass of substance ÷ mass of one
mole/Mr.
Number of moles = Volume of gas in dm³ at r.t.p ÷ 24.
Number of moles = concentration of solution (mol/dm³) x
volume of solution (dm³).
How do you convert the value from cm³ to dm³?
If the value is in cm³ divide by 1000 to get a value in dm³.
