A

Adams proposes to Clay that if Clay supported Adams then Adams would become Secretary of State which is an advantageous position, in order to become president This sets the stage for dirty politicking.

What was Andrew Jackson’s Assassination Attempt?

A

Andrew Jackson was leaving the funeral of the South Carolina congressman Warren Davis and a house painter named Richard Lawrence shot Andrew Jackson twice but misfired twice and Jackson ran after him and started beating him with his cane. People believed that Lawrence had a mental issue that resulted in him trying to kill Jackson, and spent the rest of his life in mental institutions.

A

used funds to uproot 5 Native American nations and used force to remove them causing the Trail of Tears. The pleas were ignored by President Jackson.

A

Andrew Jackson was against the 2nd Bank of America because he thought it was corrupt and was used to benefit his opponents however Nicholas Biddle the president for the second bank opposed that idea.

What was the spoils system?

A

political promise in which people get promised jobs rather than getting hired by skill. It gets replaced with the 1883 Pendelton Act in which people get tested by skill for a position. The 1929 Hatch Act states that people who work in the federal government cannot engage in any political activities.
