Q

How are women represented?

A

Women wearing a bikini = seem weak + vulnerable AND also sexualised and objectified. Stereotypical representation of both men and women could be reflective of the patriarchal society at the time
Woman near the centre is putting her arm out as if she is protecting Bond = perhaps trying to shield him from the gun protected at him. Represents her as being caring and protective, a typical representation of women. Perhaps an ally of Bond too
Other female character seems to be pointing Bond out to the enemy = enemy of Bond too, can’t be trusted.
Women are not armed with weapons. Juxtaposition with men. = pacifists, vulnerable
Poster does not reflect the 1960s protests of women fighting for equal rights. Perhaps because they aim to appeal to their male target audience, and to reflect mainstream ideologies instead of the alternative views of feminism at the time.
Woman doing martial arts not sexualised = could reflect the growing change in 70s towards equal rights
