a time of intellectual and social change that took place in the colonies as a result of the European Enlightenment

Saying that people were evil and greedy meaning they needed a king

He stated that Hobbes was wrong and said that people had a right to 3 natural rights of life, liberty and property and its the governments job to protect these 3 rights.

The best form of government was one in which the legislative, executive, and judicial powers were separate and kept each other in check to prevent any branch from becoming too powerful

Stating that a contract is formed between people and the government and if the government fails to protect your 3 rights then the social contract is violated.
