What are the rewards we may receive from a relationship?
being cared for, companionship and sex

what does the equity theory assume?
people strive to achieve fairness in their relationship and feel distressed if they perceive unfairness

people who give a great deal in a relationship get little in return
what can inequity cause?

how does perceived inequity lead to distress?
the greater the perceived inequity, the greater the dissatisfaction, the greater the distress
what does equity not necessarily mean and why?
equality as each partner can contribute different amounts for the relationship to be equitable
