The Lymphoid System Flashcards
What are the APC?
Dendritic cells
Macrophages
What happen after APC presents antigen with class II MHC protein at its surface?
Th bind to it and triggers macrophages to release interleukin 1 which activates the helper T cell which in turn release it’s own cytokines to stimulate the cell to proliferate and form clone of Th with the same receptor (specific to the initial antigen).
What are the phases of a humoral response?
Activation phase and effector phase
What are matching venues?
Aggregate of thousands of lymphocytes
Principle site of antigen presentation and T and B cell activation and expansion
Contains fine reticular fibres that allow circulation of lymphocytes and APC
Contain blood vessels
