The Lungs Flashcards
How many LOBES does each Lung Have?
Right Lung- 3 Lobes (2 Fissures)
Left Lung- 2 Lobes (1 Fissure)
What is the Lung Root?
A collection of structures that Suspend the Lungs in the Mediastinum
What Structures make up the Lung Root?
-A Bronchus
- Pulmonary artery
-Two pulmonary veins
- Bronchial vessels
- Pulmonary plexus of nerves
-Lymphatic vessels
LUNG ROOT
What vessels carry deoxygenated blood to the Lungs?
PULMONARY ARTERIES
(THERE ARE 2 PULMONARY ARTERIES)
What vessels carry oxygenated away from the lungs?
PULMONARY VEINS
(THERE ARE FOUR PULMONARY VEINS)
Where do the BRONCHIAL ARTERIES come from?
What do they Supply?
BRONCHIAL ARTERIES- Branches from the Descending Aorta
- Supply the Lung Tissue, Pleura and Bronchial Tree
Where do the BRONCHIAL VEINS drain?
Right Bronchial Vein- Azygous Vein
Left Bronchial Vein- Hemiazygous Vein
What is the LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE of the Lungs?
TRACHEBRONCHIAL NODES
Drainage into the Brachiocephalic Veins
Where do PARASYMPATHETICS to the Lung come from?
What do they do?
PARASYMPATHETIC- VAGUS NERVE
- Secretion from Bronchial glands
- CONTRACTION of Smooth Muscle
- VASODILATION
Where do SYMPATHETICS to the Lung come from?
What do they do?
SYMPATHETIC TRUNKS
-RELAXATION of Smooth Muscle
- VASOCONSTRICTION
What conducts PAIN from the Lungs?
Afferent Fibres of the VAGUS NERVE
TRACHEBRONCHIAL NODES
Surface Anatomy of the Lungs
