Q

what was the manachurian crisis?

A

japan had invaded china for recourses and fertile land because otherwise they wouldnt be able to survive.
had blamed china for the cause of the invasion- as they were framed for attacking a japenese train.

lytton report-took a year to investigate the crisis…japan could build on chinese land…came to the conclusion that they were both to blame even though china had no involvement…japan left the league as a result of being blamed.

Q

what was the abysinnian crisis?

A

italy, britain and france had made an agreement to split abysinnia into pieces that they could individually roam.
however, italy went behind the back of britain and france and they had invaded abysinnia
they were reluctant to give the land back because of the trading partnerships and access to the suez canal.
caused conflict in the league because britain and france had gone against the rules of the league.
was also a main reason as to why the league failed.

Q

was the league doomed from the start?

A

the league could be seen to of been doomed from the start because…
firstly a huge power being america had not been a member of the league from the start-even tho woodrow wilson had created the 14 points.– because america were not in the league..the league lacked trade/financial support and naval support.
secondly… major powers were greedy- hypocrites- caused other countries to betray the league.
countries were not prepared to disarmour as it would put them in vulnerable positions to attacks.
italy were ignored for a long period of time- couldnt be ignored ad mussollini is so powerful.
bigger countries kept attacking the smaller countries.
