The Laws Of Boundaries Flashcards
The Law of Sowing and Reaping
- When God tells us we will reap what we sow, He’s not punishing us. He’s simply telling us the way things are.
- When we rescue someone every time they have consequences for their actions, we are enabling their irresponsible behavior.
- Establishing boundaries helps the codependent stop enabling.
- Boundaries force a person to reap what they’re sowing.
The Law of Responsibility
• We are to love one another, not be one another.
The Law of Power
You have the power to:
• Agree with the truth about your problems
• Submit your inability to God
• Search, ask God and others to reveal more about what is within your boundaries
• Turn from evil that you find within you
• Humble yourself and ask God to help with your developmental injuries
• Seek our those that have injured you and make amends
The Law of Respect
“They”
Matthew 7:1-2
The Law of Motivation
- Freedom first, service second. When service gets in front of freedom, it causes bitterness, anger, and burnout.
- Fear can keep us from saying “No.”
The Law of Evaluation
• Things can hurt and not harm us
The Law of Proactivity
• For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
The Law of Envy
- Envy is a self perpetuating cycle in which boundaryless people feel empty and unfulfilled
- Focuses on what is outside instead of developing the abilities God has given you
- Like gravity - if unaware of it, you’ll jump and fall to your death
The Law of Activity
- Passivity never pays off
* The sin God rebukes is not trying and failing but rather failing to try
The Law of Exposure
• Because of unexpressed boundaries, relationships suffer
