Extrinsic muscles of the larynx
Suprahyoid
- Digastric, Geniohyoid, Stylohyoid, Mylohyoid,
Infrahyoid
- Thyrohyoid, Omohyoid, Sternohyoid, Sternothyroid
What does superior laryngeal nerve innervate?
Internal branch - SENSORY - mucosa of the larynx above the vocal cords
External branch - MOTOR - Cricothyroid
What does the recurrent laryngeal nerve innervate?
SENSORY - innervation to the mucosa below the level of the vocal cords
MOTOR - innervation to all the intrinsic muscle of the larynx except the cricothyroid
Thyroarytenoid
Posterior cricoarytenoid
Lateral cricoarytenoid
Transverse and Oblique Arytenoids
Blood supply of the larynx
Superior laryngeal artery - branch of the superior thyroid artery
Inferior laryngeal artery - branch of the inferior thyroid artery
