What does the Canadian Justice system guarantee everyone?
It guarantees due process under the law
What is our judicial system founded on?
The presumption of innocence in criminal matters. This means that everyone is innocent until proven guilty

It is a heritage that includes

What is due process?
This is the principle that the government must respect the legals rights a person is entitled to under the law

It symbolizes the impartial manner in which our laws are administered. Blind to all considerations but facts
What is the role of the court?
To settle disputes
What is the role of the police?
To enforce the law
What is the highest court in Canada?
The supreme court
What does the federal court deal with?
Matters concerning the federal government
What is an appeal and trial court sometimes called?
The court of the Queens bench or the Supreme court
What courts deal with small sums of money and lesser offences?
Provincial courts like small claims court, family court, and traffic courts for civil cases
Where are the provincial police forces?
Ontario and Quebec
Where do we have the municipal police department?
In all provinces
What is RCMP and what do they do?
Royal Canadian Mounted Police and they enforce federal laws throughout Canada.
They also serve as the provincial police in all provinces and territories except Ontario and Quebec
