Tips: Read the topic. Consider both sides of the issue. Restate issue into own words. Think of reasons & examples for both side if the issue. Arrange essay by points.

P1: paraphrase the issue and state your position. Inform the reader your position to the issue. Explain why the issue is worthy of discussion.
P2: State & elaborate upon the strongest point in support of your position.
P3: State & elaborate upon another point in support of your position, etc.
P4: Additional paragraphs as time permits …
Next to last paragraph: address an opposing point to your position; then refute with relevant detailed support.
Last Paragraph: Summarize your position in a way that addresses the specific instruction.
