Q

Why are you leaving your profession?

A

I’m leaving my profession because I’m looking for something new, and fulfilling. Although I do enjoy my job in the bar and as a freelancer, covid has made me reorganised my priorities and made my realise that its not viable for me to continue on with very little job security. And being here means I can continue to interact with the public, do something to help others and continue to learn.

Q

Tell me about your Weaknesses?

A

My biggest weakness at the moment is struggling to keep a healthy work/ life balance. I enjoy working, it something that satisfies me as a person, that I’m useful, but I’ve come to realise that I have to schedule timeout for myself to do something I enjoy so I don’t reach burnout and thus makes me more productive at work.

Q

What motivates you?

A

Helping others. I come from a very caring family. My mother is a nurse. So I guess it’s in my blood. I had training to be a graphic design because I wanted to help people put together a brand for their business. When someone gets injured at work, or something goes wrong, I’m the first person there to help out. I just enjoying helping. Whether it’s in a more abstract way, or in a direct way, it’s always been something that’s there.

Q

What would your boss say about you?

A

He would say I’m a hard worker, someone who is always willing to do her best, someone always willing to learn and improve. He would say I’m good with people, I’m reliable. If someone had booked the functional hall and it’s was two days ahead, my boss could text me and ask me to work it and I would. If someone’s off sick he could contact me and I would work it.

Q

What’s the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?

A

Giving up my pursuit of being an artist. I couldn’t get anywhere which would keep me permanent because of Covid, and unfortunately you can’t live on nothing. It doesn’t mean I’m going to stop drawing, but it means that I can’t devote everything to it. And thats okay because maybe it was never meant to be and I gave it my all and it didn’t happen and now I can be great help elsewhere.

How do you deal with Stress?

A

I find being cognizant of my emotions, helps. I then take a moment to myself, calm down, give myself a pep talk if I have to, make a plan of action, list my priorities and then carry on.

17
Q

Tell me something that is not on your resume?

A

I’m able to quickly pick up on different softwares due to having to learn lots of different ones for art.
I really like Jungian Psychology, anthropology relating to religion, different cultures and their practices.

18
Q

How have you dealt with problematic patrons before?

A

I had these two guys come in, and they wanted to play on the snooker table. I said the snooker table was for members and they started getting annoyed with me because I have rules to follow. I defused the situation by explaining that I couldn’t cosign for them on the membership form because I was not a member, I just worked there, but if they came back in the evening they could speak to my boss about joining up as he has the final say and he could Cosign.
