Access is closest, Tier 1 furthest.
Why might different organisations use different kinds of ISPs?
End users will use access as it’s well positioned for their needs. Large organisations may use T1 as it allows them to directly connect at very high speeds with a large upfront and ongoing cost

Explain the “Last Mile Problem” in Internet Service Provision
Getting internet access to houses is a lot more awkward and expensive than getting it most of the way, as you need to link each individual house and deal with existing infrastructure
What are the benefits and drawbacks of a Fixed Wireless Access?
Benefits: connects anywhere, no wires, moves the receiving device easily
Drawbacks: speed depends on other users nearby, slower speeds, unreliable ping
What costs may be incurred in getting Fibre-Optic internet to user’s premises?
Cables running to the user’s house involve digging up roads, gardens and working around other utilities
Which networking layer contains actual physical connections?
Link Layer, it transmits the prepared packets from place to place
What are the reasons to use TCP over UDP? When would you use UDP?
TCP is more reliable but less efficient. You would use UDP to send data fast where the reliability is less important or where you can be relatively assured that the data will be sent correctly
What are the roles of ICANN in maintaining the internet?
ICANN hands out blocks of IP addresses to local organisations in each country/region. It also manages who has registered Domain Names and decides which Top Level Domains are available
