The light-sensitive cells in the retina get activated upon illumination and generate electrical signals which are sent to the brain via the optic nerves. The brain interprets these signals processing the information so that we perceive objects as they are.

To see an object comfortably and distinctly, you must hold it at about 25 cm from the eyes. The minimum distance, at which objects can be seen most distinctly without strain, is called the least distance of distinct vision. It is also called the near point of the eye.

A cataract is a prevalent eye issue characterized by a cloudy lens, which results in unclear vision. The lens is typically transparent and aids in focusing light on the back of the eye for clear sight. With aging, genetics, or sunlight exposure, the lens can turn cloudy, impeding proper vision. This can lead to light sensitivity, glare, and difficulty seeing in low light. Cataracts can be addressed through surgery, where the cloudy lens is substituted with an artificial one to restore clear vision.
