The Holocaust 🔥 Flashcards
What is the definition of “Holocaust”?
The mass genocide, or extermination of a group of people owing to their religious or cultural beliefs
Name the 9 groups that were part of the Holocaust:
> Jehovah's Witnesses > Slavs > Homosexuals > Jews > Political opponents > Roma and Sinti (Gypsies) > People with disabilities > The racist state > The work shy
What did the Nazis do to the Jews in the 1930’s?
In the 1930’s the Nazis passed Nuremberg laws. These laws forbid them into any public spaces and also into German schools and shops. Jewish children were bullied at school and later expelled. Jewish workers were dismissed and no longer aloud to work. They had also to scrub the pavements in public. Some were even sent to prison for no reason. This was a very bad time for the Jews indeed
Why were the Jews persecuted by the Nazis?
The Nazis were obsessed with the idea of racial superiority. They believed Germans were Aryans, the ‘master race’ and SUPERIOR TO ALL OTHER RACES. In contrast, they viewed Jews as ‘Untermenschen’ (‘subhuman’) who should be exterminated as quickly as possible
What was the “final solution”?
The final solution of the Jewish question meant the complete extermination of all Jews in Europe
