Bodily/biological needs

Q

What role does the prefontal lobe have in opposition to seeking circuitry and how does this apply to me?

A

The seeking (dopamine) system become inhibited by the prefrontal lobe, likely showing that one can learn to become inhibited.

This applies to both me and Bismah, our exploratory natures were reduced because we were taught to reduce them

Q

What precedes thoughts and how can thoughts override reality?

A

Feelings precede thought, although those feelings are not always recognized in thought. The thought often is counter to the feeling, which means if one’s initial thoughts are counter to their feelings then they are counter to reality

Q

How does anxiety, as a feeling, precede and influence the proceeding thoughts?

A

The feeling of anxiety won’t necessarily be recognized, and one can think thoughts in opposition to the anxiety, without them knowing they are doing that.

Ex- Someone is anxious about a first date. They may say “well i can always get another date” prior to this date, expressing a thought that would counter the anxiety of an awkward first date and failed courtship
