The Heart Murmurs Flashcards
What is heard in aortic stenosis
Crescendo decresendo murmur
What is heard in aortic regurgitation and why
The early end diastolic murmur
Blood would leak back to the LV when the heart would be relaxed
What is heard in mitral stenosis
The diastolic rumble
What is heard in the mitral regurgitation and why
The holosystolic murmur
Valve not closed so would have some flow back, the LV would need to pump harder
This would happen through all of systole
What is heard in VSD during systole
The holosystolic murmur at the lower left boarder
What is heard in the VSD during diastole
Diastolic murmur at the apex of the apex of the heart
What is heard in the ASD during systole
The murmur on the upper left boarder of the heart
What is heard in the ASD during diastole
The diastolic murmur of the upper left sternal boarder
What sound would be heard with the pulmonary stenosis and why
Early systolic ejection murmur
Pulmonary valve would not be open properly, so would need to force the blood through during systole
What is the main cause of mitral stenosis
Rheumatic fever
What is the main cause of the regurgitations and the stenosis’
Rheumatic fever
(Caused by streps)
What is the best way to identify the pulmonary stenosis
The splitting of the S2 sounds (struggling blood to get through)
