Q

properties of Artery

A
  • strong elastic walls
  • the walls are thick compared to the lumen (the size of the hole in the middle)

Q

properties of capillaries

A
  • really tiny
  • really narrow, can squeeze into gaps between cells (means they can carry blood really close to every cell in body to exchange substances with them
-permemable walls, so substances can diffuse in and out
-supplies food and oxygen, takes away waste like Carbon dioxide
  • walls are one cell thick, increases rate of diffusion by decreasing the distance over which it occurs
