the heart Flashcards
branches of the right coronary artery
- branch to SA node
- conus arteriosus branch
- atrial branches
- ventricle branches
- AV node
- posterior interventricular
- right marginal
branches of the left coronary artery
left anterior descending —> diagonal branches
circumflex —–> left marginal branches
contents of atrial myocardium
- outer circular
2. inner longitudinal
contents of ventricular myocardium
lower 1\3: inner+ outer
upper 2\3: outer spiral + middle circular + inner longitudinal.
** the outer spiral and inner longitudinal are connected in the vortex cordis.
layers of the heart
parietal pericardium (---pericardial cavity with serous fluid---) epicardium (also visceral pericardium) myocardium (the thickest layer) endocardium
functions of the fibrous skeleton
- electrical insulator between the atrium and venticles
- 2 fibrous rings, anchors the cuspidal valves
- musculature of the heart arises from the fibrous skeleton
anastamoses of coronary arteries
- at the Apex, between anterior and posterior interventricular branches.
- in the coronary sulcus, between circumflex and RCA
- within the septum, between septal branches of anterior + posterior interventricular branches.
where is the coronary sinus begins?
at the junction of the Marshall’s vein and great cardiac vein.
where is the middle cardiac vein?
starts at the apex and ascends in the posterior interventricular groove.
where is the small cardiac vein?
at the right side, drains to the coronary sinus
the anterior and least cardiac veins?
drain directly to the right atrium.
what is found between the 2 semilunar valves?
conus tendon.
situs cordis
apex - 5th intercostal space, 7-8 cm away from sternal margin.
left margin of coronary sulcus - 3rd rib, 3 cm away from sternum
right margin of coronary sulcus - 6th rib, 2cm away from right sternal margin.
SVC enters the right atrium - junction og 3rd cartilage and sternum (RT side)
valves of right atrium?
Thebesian vakve (of coronary sinus eustavhian valve (of IVC)
what is the most important branch of the internal thoracic artery?
The pericardiaco-phrenic artery.
