What is the heart made up of?
Where is the heart located ?
The heart is roughly coned shape muscular organ.
The heart lies in the thoracic cavity in the mediastinum m(the space in between the lungs) slight more to the left m.
Where is the apex of the heart?
The apex is about 9cm to the left of the midline at the level of the 5th intercostal space. A little below the the nipple
Organs associate with the heart
Inferior- the apex
Superior -the great blood vessels iethe aorta, superior vena cava, pulmonary artery and pulmonary veins which enters the heart at the base.
Posteriorly -the oesophagus, trachea , left and right bronchus descending aorta, inferior vena cava and thoracic vertebrae
lateral- the lungs, left lung overlaps the left side of the heart
Anterior- the sternum, ribs and intercostal muscle
How many layers is the heart composed of?- and name and explain
The heart is composed of three layers
Pericardium Myocardium and endocardium
Pericardium is outermost layer and made up of two sac (fibrous pericardium) of a continuous double layer of serous membrane. The fibrous pericardium is continues with tunica Adventist’s which is made of fibrous tissues which are made up l of 2layers, the periertal pericardium visceral pericardium.
