Artificial Pacemaker
A device that helps the heart maintain a normal heart rate
Autonomic Nervous System
A part of the peripheral nervous system ‘automatic’ processes such as heartrate, respiration, digesting, and high blood pressure
Bundle Branches
What controls the heart rate. There are two, right and left.
Bundle of His
Connects AV node and both of the bundle branches. It carries electrical signals from the AV node to the bundle branches.
Ectopic Focus
Controls the heart rate, also know as a Ectopic Pacemaker
Purkinje Fibers
Conducts electrical impulses through the two inner ventricular walls.
Sinoatrial Node (SA Node)
Generates an electrical signal causing the upper heart to be at a higher bpm
Atrioventricular Node (AV Node)
A small structure at the right atrium at Koch’s triangle. It connects the electrical system of the atria and the ventricles, controlling their bpm.
