CODE RED
Follow the RACE procedures. Remember: R - Remove Patients from area, A - Activate Fire Alarm, C - Clear hallways and doorways, E - Extinguish fire if possible, Evacuate if directed.
CODE BLUE
Code Blue team report to the area. Clinical team prepare to move a crash cart if needed. Security removes people from the area. Used incase of Cardiac or respiratory emergency or stroke.
RAPID RESPONSE
Rapid Response team report to area. Clinical team prepare to move a crash cart if needed. Security removes people from the area. Used incase of a patient’s condition deteriorating.
CODE GREEN
Evacuate the announced area immediately. Transfer patients to other units.
CODE AMBER
All personnel monitor exits. Report any items that could conceal a child or infant. Report any child attempting to leave. Security will notify police and search the facility.
CODE YELLOW
Stop all non-essential work and search the facility. Report anything recently brought in that is out of place if you cannot identify who it belongs to. DO NOT TOUCH SUSPECTED ITEM. Administration will contact authorities.
CODE ORANGE
A hazardous material is released within the building or community.
If inside, avoid the reported location.
If outside, close all windows and shut off the HVAC.
CODE BLACK
Winds of excess of 75 mph reported within 10 minuntes.
Limit people leaving the facility.
Stay away from large windows to avoid glass shrapnel.
CODE SILVER
Immediately evacuate the area if safe. Staff close and lock all doors on floor and shelter in place. Security and police will attempt to resolve the situation.
CODE TRIAGE
Emergency Department speed up Triage and Registration. Security to control traffic.
CODE CLEAR
Emergency is over.
