. free elections would be held in previously occupied countries in eastern europe
=the allies had different ways of a free election. to the USA it meant lots of political parties competing for votes
.but for stalin believed only communist parties should run in elections.

.the united nations would replace the failed league of nations

postdam revealed the first cracks in the grand alliance

A

After germany surrendered in may 1945 the allied leaders met again at the postdam over july and august. they wanted to work on the finer details of their plans for germany and europe.

  1. for example, germany would be divided into four zones, but the allies didnt decide if , or when the zones would rejoin and form a country again.
  2. Britian and US were slso alarmed by stalins actions in poland= he had installed a government consisting of only pro-communist members. Britian and US felt this went against the yalta agreement

The USA and the USSR had very different ideologys

A

the tension between the usa and the ussr was partly caused by there very different beliefs . the USSR was communist , while the USA was capitalist.
