What 3 main parts does the urethra pass through?
• Here we have the urethra, passing through the prostate through the penis towards the opening • Three parts: 1. prostatic 2. membranous 3. spongy
Locate the bulb of the penis, corpus cavernosum (bone looking part) and the corpus spongiosum (erectile tissue).

Describe the arterial and venous supply of the system
- The testes receive their blood supply via the testicular arteries which arise from the anterior surface of the abdominal aorta.
- The testicular vein terminates in the inferior vena cava
- The blood supply passes through anterolateral wall of the abdomen, passes through the deep inguinal ring, through the inguinal canal, emerges at the superficial inguinal ring and descend into the testes
What does the urethra pass through on the sagittal plane
- First, we have the opening for the urethra
- The prostatic part of the urethra passes through the prostate gland, inferior to the bladder
- It then passes through the urogenital membrane
- It then passes through the penis spongiosum
- Leaves at the navicular fossa at the opening in the glans of the penis
Describe the passage of the spermatic cord
The ductus (vas) deferens is a muscular tube that carriers spermatozoa from the testes to the prostatic urethra. It runs from the testes through the inguinal canal in the spermatic cord. It then crosses the external iliac vessels and is joined by the duct of the seminal vesicles to form the ejaculatory duct, which pierces the base of the prostate and opens into the prostatic urethra
