Q

Differences between Multicellular and Unicellular

A

Multicellular
/ Large number of cells
/ Different function are performed by different cells
/ Cells are specified to perform different functions
/ Specialized cells take part in reproduction
/ They have a long lifespan
/ eg- remember

Unicellular
/ Single cell
/ All functions are performed by a single cell
/ Division of labor is not performed
/ Reproduction involves the single same cell
/ They have a short lifespan
/ eg-remember

Q

Differences between Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes

A
_Prokaryotes_
/ Very minute in size (1-10 μm)
/ Nucleoid is not surrounded by a Nuclear membrane
/ It is always Unicellular
/ There is a single Chromosome present
/ The Nucleolus is absent
/ The Cell divides by Fission or Budding
/ Membrane bound Cell Organelles are absent
/ eg-Bacteria

Eukaryotes
/ Fairly large in size (5-100 μm)
/ Its Nuclear is surrounded by a Nuclear membrane
/ May be Unicellular or Multicellular
/ More then one Chromosome is present
/ The Nucleolus is present
/ The Cell divides through the process of Mitosis or
Meiosis
/ Membrane bound Cell Organelles are present
/ eg-all Plants and Animals

Q

Differences between Smooth endoplasmic reticulum and Rough endoplasmic reticulum ?

A
_Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum_
/ It is made of mainly Tubules
/ Helps in manufacture of lipids
/ Ribosomes are absent
/ Helps in membrane biogenesis
_Rough endoplasmic reticulum_
/ It is made of mainly vesicles
/ Helps in manufacture of proteins
/ Ribosomes are present
/Does not help in membrane biogenesis

Q

Differences between Plant cell and Animal cell ?

A

Plant cell
/ They contain Chloroplasts for photosynthesis
/ They have a cell wall for rigidity and structure
/ Cells are square and rigid or geometric shaped
/ They have limited movement
/ Have one large Vacuole

Animal cell
/ They do not have any chloroplasts
/ They do not have a cell wall
/ The cells are fluid and flexible and have many shapes
and sizes
/ The cells can move around
/ They have either a small vacuole or none
