The Property Absentee Law, which meant the Jewish state could claim all land and housing that was abandoned by Palestinian refugees.
The Prevention of Infiltration Law, which allowed the state to recognise any Palestinian crossing the border as a terrorist that they could ‘deal to’.

A

Some were of the view that the US should fully back Israel as the only reliable source in the Middle-East, others thought it would damage relations with the Arabs, allowing the Soviets to get a hold in. Both outcomes happened.

A

The Palestinian Liberation Organisation, a group (who the Israelis recognised as terrorists) whose goal it was to end Israel and return Palestinian Arabs to their homeland.

They are confident in the support of the United States and they believe they are entitled to the land.

A

It is the head of their homeland (Zion), where the temples used to be and is the religious capital of their religion.

The Western Wall, believed to be the remains of one of the retaining walls of the second temple.

The Mount of Olives, a prestigious Jewish gravesite over 1500 years old, where generations of Jews have been buried and it is where they believe the first will rise when the messiah comes.

A

They believe a lot of the old testament stuff, so it is significant, and it is also where they believe the prophet Mohammed rose to heaven to talk with God and the prophets.

A

The Noble Sanctuary (temple mount), believed to be the location that Mohammed travelled to on his night journey to Jerusalem, and is also considered one of the earliest places of worship to Allah, and associated with the prophets of the Old Testament respected in Islam.

Dome of the Rock, which covers the rock where it is believed Mohammed ascended to Heaven.
