They consisted of two psychiatrists and six psychiatric nurses, together with a driver. One FTP was allocated to each division with a further team for support troops in the rear. Having their own transport, they were designed for mobile warfare and commonly deployed the ‘B’ echelon of combatant units so that soldiers could be treated in the vicinity of their colleagues. Depending on the nature of battle and the facilities available, they could also be attached to field ambulances.
