The Eye Flashcards
What is the function of the iris
A muscle that adjust the pupil to regulate the amount of light that enters the eye
What is the function of the lens
The clear flexible part of the eye that adjust its shape according to focal point
What is the function of the pupil
The black thing in the middle of the iris of the eye
The size can be adjust to control the amount of light
What is the function of the rods
Photoreceptors in the eye more sensitive to light that cone
Not able to distinguish colour xD
What is the function of the ciliary body
Has muscles that controls the shape of lens
What is the function of cones
Detects red blue and green
Needs more light to be simulator
How does the eye work
Light enters the eye
Pupils adjust if there’s little or too much light
Lens change shape depending of distant of object
Image focuses on retina flips the image
Explain accommodation
Lens flatten when you look at something far away the ciliary muscles relax the suspensory ligament in the ciliary muscles taut
Lens round up when you focus of something close the ciliary muscles pulls forward and releasing the tension of suspensory ligaments
What is rhodopsin
It’s a purple pigment that breaks into 2 proteins opsin and retinal
Used when the ganglin cells join together and form the optic nerve as they exist the eye
When the bipolar cell synapse with rods or cones and transmits impulses to the ganglion cells
