The Eye Flashcards
What is the cornea?
Clear dome that protects the iris from the exterior
What is the aqueous humor?
Its the watery fluid in front of the eye
What is the pupil?
Its the opening in the middle of the iris that allows light to go to the back of the eye
What is the iris?
The iris is the coloured part of your eye that regulates how much light is coming through
What is the sclera?
The sclera is the outermost part of the eyeball
What are the ciliary muscles?
They stretch the lens to bend the light properly on the back of the retina
What is the ciliary?
It produces the aqueous humor
What is the lens?
It focuses the light onto the back of the retina
What is the vitreous humor?
It helps maintain the shape of the eyeball by filling the back part of the eye
What is the choroid?
Its purpose is to supply blood to the outer portion of the retina
What is the retina?
Its the part in the back of the eyeball that forms the image with the help of photosensitive cells
What is the fovea centrolis?
Its the dip in the back if the eye that is most dense with photosensitive cells
What are the two types of photosensitive cells?
There are rods and cones. The rods are responsible for producing clear crisp images. The cones are used for creating coloured images.
What is the optic nerve?
Its connected to the back of retina that carries the sensory information to the brain we can creat a image
