The equilibrium constant - Kc Flashcards
What is the equation for the equilibrium law?
aA + bB = cC + dD
What is the expression for Kc?
Kc = [C]^c x [D]^d / [A]^a x [B]^b
What does [ ] represent?
The equilibrium concentration of a reactant or product
What is the units of [ ] ?
mol dm-3
What is the law of Kc value?
It is constant when concentration, pressure or catalyst changes, but not when temperature changes
When will Kc have no units?
When there is the same number of moles of reactants and products
What is Kc for the reverse reaction?
The reciprocal of Kc of the forward reaction
How do you find equilibrium using an ice table?
I = initial mol - write out initial mol of reach reactant and product
C = change in mol - take away equilibrium mol from initial mol
E = equilibrium mol - write out equilibrium mol which is given
E - divide equilibrium mol by volume and then input in Kc expression
