The Equation-free P3 (1) Flashcards
What is speed?
The distance travelled in a certain time
When do you calculate the average speed?
When an object changes it’s speed during the journey, you need to find out it’s average speed.
-because it’s speed was not constant throughout the whole journey
In a distance-time graph, what does the gradient stand for?
Speed
In a distance-time graph, what does the flat section stand for?
The car stopping
Flat section = straight line in the graph
In a distance-time graph, what does a steep gradient stand for?
A faster speed
- the steeper the gradient, the faster the speed.
In a distance-time graph, what does the curves stand for?
An acceleration of deceleration
When calculating the speed in a distance-time graph, what do you actually calculate in the graph?
When calculating speed (s= d/t) you are actually calculating the steepness of the gradient.
What is acceleration ?
How quickly the speed of an object is changing
In a speed-time graph, what does the gradient stand for?
Acceleration
In a speed-time graph, what does the flat section stand for?
A steady speed (DOES NOT MEAN AN OBJECT STOPPED MOVING)
In a speed-time graph, what does a steep gradient stand for?
The steeper the gradient, the greater the acceleration.
In a speed-time graph, what does a curve stand for?
A changing acceleration or deceleration
- (gradients are acceleration or deceleration, they are also straight which stands for a constant acceleration, a curve will stand for a change in acceleration)
What is velocity?
A speed and direction of an object (m/s)
What is weight?
The weight is an object’s mass being pulled by the gravitational field strength
(It is affected by how high you are from the ground and what your mass is)
What is mass?
Mass is your actually body mass which means it cannot be affected wherever you may be.
