Q

What is the Bradford Hill Criteria?

A

a group of minimal conditions necessary to provide adequate evidence of a causal relationship
ii aka “criteria for causation”:
-strength (large population)
-consistency (consisent findings by different people in different places)
-specificity (causation more likely if there is a very specific disease affecting a specific population)
-temporality (effect occurs after the cause)
-biological gradient (greater exposure should = greater incidence)
-coherence (coherence between lab findings and epidemiology is helpful)
-analogy (the effect of similar factors may be considered)

(-plausibility, a likely mechanism between cause and effect is useful)

Q

What are some possible consequences of climate change? And some possible solutions?

A

Consequences?
i heatwaves (bacteria happier, desertification, more diarrhoea)
ii sea level rise
iii new diseases
iv scarcity of resources -> migration -> war (?)

Solutions?
i Control world population?
ii Reduce energy consumption?
iii Get our energy from renewable resources?
