What are hormones?
Hormones are chemical molecules carried in the blood
What do the hormones that the pituitary gland releases do and where is the gland located?
The gland is located in the brain and it Regulates body conditions.
What hormones does the ovary produce and what is it used for?
Oestrogen and progestrone which is used in reproduction.
What hormone does the thyroid gland produce and what is it used for?
Thyroxine, which is used to control metabolism.
What hormone does the pancreas produce and what is it used for?
Insulin, Which is used for controlling blood glucose levels.
What hormone does the testes produce, and what is it used for?
Testosterone, Which is used to control puberty and sperm production.
What are differences in the effect of the Endocrine System and the Nervous System?
- The effects of the nervous system are extremely quick, Whereas the endocrine systems effects are longer.
- The effects of the Nervous system last a shorter amount of time.
- The Endocrine systems hormone act in a more general way, Whereas the nervous system acts in a very specific area.
