Outline the function of the Endocrine System
A
- The endocrine system is responsible for providing a chemical system of communication via the bloodstream
- It’s made up of glands that secrete these chemicals called hormones which bind to their specific receptors in the blood stream, regulating bodily functions.

Outline the Pituitary (master) gland
A
- Location: Brain
- Hormone it secretes: growth hormone
- Function of hormone: Acts on many parts of the body promoting growth and muscle mass

Outline the Pineal gland
A
- Location: Brain
- Hormone it secretes: Melatonin
- Function of hormone: Regulates sleep/wake cycle by causing feelings of tiredness

Outline the Adrenal gland
A
- Location: Above kidneys
- Hormone it secretes: Adrenaline
- Function of hormone: Produces physiological changes seen in fight or flight response

A
- Location: Male reproductive system
- Hormone it secretes: Testosterone
- Function of hormone: Develops male physical and psychological changes (e.g. facial hair, increased aggression etc..)

- Function of hormone: Develops female physical and psychological changes (e.g. breast growth, increased empathy)
