Where did the concept of Electra complex come from? What happens in both male and female cases?
A
The concept of the electra complex comes from Jung who suggested over time girls accept that they will never have a penis and substitute this desire for children and identifying with their mothers. In both male and female cases, the child identifies with the same sex parent and adopts their values and attitudes (internalisation).
