What does the pinna direct the sound wave to?
It directs to the auditory canal towards the ear drum

Auditory canal, Eardrum and the pinna

What makes up the Middle ear?
Ossicles
What is the ossicles?
They are tiny bones that amplify sound
What do ossicles make when they vibrate?
The make the Oval window
Is the cochlea a liquid solid or gas?
It is a liquid
What does the cochlea contain?
it contains thousands of tiny hairs
What happens in the cochlea?
When the liquid moves, the hair moves
What do the base of the hairs convert?
They convert an electrical signal
What doe the electric signal travel to?
It travels down to the auditory nerve to your brain.
What makes up the inner ear
The cochlea and the semi-circle canals
What so the semi-circle do?
They help you to balance
How can you affect you hearing?
Anything that affects the transmittion of sound through your ear can affect your hearing
How can you effect your outer outer ear?
Anything that blocks your auditory canal can affect your ear
What happens if you pop your Middle ear?
If you pop your middle ear it will be fine because it can grow back but very loud sounds or head injuries can damage your eardrum or shatter the ossicles
How can infections affect your ear?
Infections can affect the cochlea or the ability to send signals down to the auditory nerve.
How can you reduce damaging your ear?
You can reduce the risk of damaging your ear by turning down the volume or using ear defenders.
