What are the three sections of the ear?
Outer ear, middle ear, inner ear
What are the three parts of the outer ear?
Auricle, ear canal, and ear drum
What are the ossicle bones and where are they?
Malleaus (hammer), incus (anvil), staples (stirrup). They are in the middle ear.
What is also in the middle ear?
Auditory (eustachian) tube
Where does sound travel in the inner ear?
To the cochlea.
What is inside the cochlea?
Little hairs
What does the auricle do?
Captures sound waves
What does the ear canal do?
Take the sound waves to the ear drum
What does the ear drum do?
It vibrates the sound waves and turns them into vibrations
What does the Eustachian tube do?
It balances pressure in the ear
What does the cochlea do?
It turns the sound into electrical waves that the brain can understand
